The Meds '85 30th Reunion Class Gift
As Meds '85 celebrates our 30th reunion, we are fundraising to establish a new bursary that will support medical students in financial need. To to so, we will need to raise a minimum of $50,000 of capital (within a 5-year period). This capital funding will generate approximately 3.7% on an annual basis and only the interest on the monies raised will be used to fund the yearly award to medical students with demonstrated financial need.
With costs of medical education paid by medical students increasing each year, the need for financial support continues to be one of the top priorities for the School of Medicine. Today’s medical student at Queen’s faces annual tuition costs of just over $25,000 plus associated fees.
When you add the cost of textbooks and $1,000 in monthly living costs (rent, food, etc) the price of a medical education adds up very quickly. For many students, the escalating costs of university education can be a significant barrier to realizing their full potential.
