Dr. Harold Jarrell, received his BSc (‘72), MSc (‘75), and PhD (‘78) in Chemistry from Queen’s University. After graduation, he went on to become a principal research officer at the National Research Council of Canada from 1977 to his retirement in 2010, where his work focused on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy.

Harold had a passion for discovery and learning, and his path to higher education was made possible because he won a full scholarship to attend Queen’s University. An admissions award for students studying science in the Faculty of Arts and Science is being set up in Harold’s memory to help other promising and aspiring scientists.
