Friends and family join in remembering and celebrating Dr. David Skene. Alumnus and longtime supporter of Queen’s University, David obtained his BA in 1959 and his medical degree in 1963. During his years in medical school, he formed some of the most cherished friendships of his life and his classmates from Meds' 63 mourn his loss. An athlete to his core David was a proud member of Queen's Golden Gaels football and hockey teams. He was co-captain when the football team won the Yates cup in 1961 and was inducted into the Queen’s Football Hall of Fame in 1991. He remained a fervent Gaels fan and supporter for the rest of his life. He never passed up a chance to attend a game in Richardson Stadium and proudly attended his 55th class reunion at Homecoming 2018 and the 33rd annual Carr-Harris Cup hockey game in 2019. The family has a strong Queen’s connection including his wife Joan Skene (Carr-Harris) BA ‘62, children Jeffrey Skene BScH ‘90, MSc ‘96, Michelle Skene (Thompson) BScH ‘90, BEd ‘92, Allison Adshade (Skene) BScH ‘94, and grandchild Abigail Skene BAH ‘20, BEd ‘21.
