In Memory of Carlos Valente
Carlos Valente immigrated from Portugal to Kingston in 1975. Throughout his life, he volunteered much of his time in keeping the Portuguese Culture and Language alive. A longtime folklore instructor for the Kingston Portuguese Canadian Society Folk Dancers and later for the Portuguese Cultural Centre group, he took pride in knowing that he contributed to the Portuguese Community in Kingston. He left this world peacefully on May 31, 2020 and to honour his memory and devotion to the Portuguese Language and Culture, this memorial fund has been created in his name. This fund will be used to promote and celebrate Portuguese language courses and cultural programming for students at Queen’s University and the Kingston community.
