There is no better way to apply what is being learned in the classroom than to work in a real-life setting under the close supervision of expert practitioners. Some law schools, though, have been content to send graduates into their new profession without requiring hands-on learning. At Queen’s, we believe providing our students with a clinical experience is part of our mission.
The Hands-on Learning Fund will support our extensive clinical programs, including Legal Aid, the Business Law Clinic, the Elder Law Clinic, the Family Law Clinic, the Prison Law Clinic and Pro Bono Students Canada.
Donations may be expressed as a one-time donation, or as a five-year pledge, whose full value would be recognized at the time of the pledge.
$50,000 gifts would be recognized in one of these areas:
• Classroom – used by all directors to instruct students in weekly sessions
• Student Work Room – a common work area for all clinic students
$25,000 gifts would be celebrated in one of the following:
• Clinic communications room
• One of four interview/meeting rooms
All naming would be exclusive – once a space is named, it shall be the sole name assigned to it for the duration of the lease.
