Pathways to Education is an organization that helps youth in low income
communities to graduate high school and successfully transition to their next
level of education.
A significant part of my B.Ed. was a focus on at-risk youth. Through my program
I spent three weeks full-time at the two Pathways to Education sites and put
together a workshop on programming video games. I had three participants with
whom we built a space-themed pong game. Two of the students were interested in coding
and one in composing digital music.
Your gift to the Community Initiatives Fund provides opportunities for
students, faculty and staff to support Kingston’s at-risk students and to send
teacher candidates out into the community in support of education initiatives,
such as Pathways to Education.
