QMAST is a student run design team that designs and builds an autonomous sailboat to compete annually with other international teams. During this competition, all boats must steer and trim sails based on GPS position and wind measurements. Students learn important technical, communication, teamwork, and project management skills over the course of the year.

This year Queen’s will be hosting the 10th annual International Robotic Sailing Regatta! 13 teams and almost 100 students will gather at the Yacht Club in Kingston (from June 4-11th) to race their automatic sailing boats!

Money donated here will be used to support the creation of our 2016 sailboat, modeled after the Volvo Ocean 65. We also aim to support the visiting teams and allow the competition to run smoothly, through renting motorboats, and equipment. If you have any questions, please email us at sailboat@engsoc.queensu.ca.
