Each year, NASA sponsors a high-powered rocketry competition called First Nations Launch, which is open to Indigenous student teams from tribal colleges and universities who have a chapter of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). Queen’s University has a chapter of AISES, and we are currently the only international Indigenous team to compete. Our primary objective, therefore, is to raise the funds necessary for us to compete in the First Nations Launch high-powered rocket competition.
