In Memory of Margaret Light
Margaret Light, ArtSci ’47, was a true champion of the Art Conservation program and the Arts here at Queen’s. She was proud that Queen’s had a program that was unique in Canada and her passion for the preservation of cultural heritage was unmatched. Her generosity has directly influenced the scope and breadth of teaching and learning the students experienced in the Art Conservation program. The powerful combination of the most talented people and specialized equipment have elevated Queen’s and Canada’s contribution to art conservation around the world.
Margaret passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022.
The Margaret A. Light Fellowship in Art Conservation was established to support teaching and research activities in the Art Conservation Program. These activities include teaching fellows, visiting scholars, guest lecturers, workshops, equipment for teaching and research, faculty research, and sabbatical replacements.
